Albright

1. The installation I enjoyed the most was the one that included two images of projected light, facing one another, in the shape of a cone that displayed as a circle on the wall. This installation seemed to be the most interactive. It was something you could walk through, enter, and be part of. You got to see how the light bends and shifts, or where it lands when you stand in it. Personally, I believe it was the strongest piece in the exhibit of McCall's. If I could chose a shape to represent me it wouldn't be the image projected on to the wall, but the tunnel created by the light and smoke in the room. I choose the tunnel because it had movement, it was shifting and at the same time still. In life right now I feel like I'm evolving a lot while feeling like I'm in the same place I was before, I'm changing but my life is still continuing slowly. The next question asked if the shadows change the artwork, and it did, but it was more interesting to me to see the stark difference when light was cut off by the shape of someone's body walking past.

2. The activities make you interact with the shapes and light, similar to how walking around them is. They were kid friendly and more geared toward families. I would definitely bring a class to a gallery, especially if they held activities for children to interact and create art. A gallery is also a good place to look at when you run low on ideas.

3.I believe that while the Albright is closed that art in Buffalo will continue to grow, as it has been. I think that this is a good opportunity for the Burchfield Penney Art Center to take the stage, and show off while it has a light on itself alone. It may also allow for smaller places (or individuals) to stand out as well. It will create job opportunities for construction workers, but it will probably become some of an issue due to traffic. I'm excited to see it fully completed, even if I don't necessarily love the concept they have.

4. Art has always been a way to express, and in a diverse city I think that this expansion will give more opportunity to those within the city; both to see art and to express themselves. I don't believe that this will be important to everyone in Buffalo, but it will be a successful attraction, and may bring more people to Buffalo.
5. I enjoy McCall's work because it is interesting. Using light as a medium is not very popular among artists, which makes it more individual. He creates an interactive space in an empty room with no more than a projector, a wall and maybe a smoke machine. There is nothing there but who you came with or who is already there, so you become a part of the artwork too. I don't enjoy that it wasn't regulated at all, but I came at a busy time so some installations were more crowded than others.

6. After visiting the light projected rooms, I visited the rooms with all of the drawings on display. McCall does what most every good artist does, and that's putting his thoughts on a page to get the image from his head to reality. I always sketch everything, anything that is complex that I might want to alter, or map out, I draw it and draw it again, until it matches what I envision
