Infographics

1. I chose Infogram because it seemed like the simplest one available and it seemed the most similar to Photoshop. The pros are that you can use the same shortcuts (for the most part) as photoshop. The cons are that it can be awkward when you try to select a specific text box or shape. It also didn't let me download what I made so I just print-screened and combined them on photoshop.

2. I chose Color Harmonies as my topic for this class. I chose it because I found that these were the hardest names to remember in high school. I used the Location and Hierarchy methods for my infographic; I did this by organizing each section the same way to avoid confusion, as well I organized them from least to most complex.
3. I definitely prefer the online one, or I would if I could've dowloaded my work without paying 19.99 a month. It is very similar to Powerpoint and I'd say the only downside is that it's a little quirky in selection abilities. It's basically a simplified version and the idea that you could make these for free is great.

5. From the video " The Beauty of Data Visualization", answer the following:
On Hans Rosling's quote: "Let the dataset change your mindset."
I don't believe that data can completely change someone's mind, but I do believe that bad data can result in people misunderstanding information, or just taking in false information. 
"Design is about solving visual problems with elegant solutions and information design is about solving information problems"
Information design can help a person completely understand a non-visual concept while design itself is meant to visually affect a person. Information design is the answer while design itself asks you questions. 
Media is used in so many different ways, but is mainly used to give information or influence a viewer. This connects to what we talk about in class because we've  discussed the positive and negative influences of the media on society and on children. 
I actually enjoy the Beauty of Data video the most. It covered a large idea and discusses it thoroughly.

Presentation

1. My artist is Bill Viola and he creates videos that are auditory and visually stimulating. I chose this artist because he and his art seemed the most interesting out of the few new art artists I researched. I prefer videography over 3D printing and digital animation and thought that he had a lot of work I could talk about. 2. The only problem I had was finding the videos he created because none of them are publicly published by him. Anything that I've found is either a snip bit from what is his art, or a video filmed of the videos he has created. I found the best quality ones and used them, sometimes I found them on accident too. I couldn't find just an audio file at all, so I included more short videos instead that have audio in them. 3. I enjoyed trying to find images that I saw in the video trailers of his work, everything was a hunt but I enjoyed it when I found a good image still. Creating My Website-Blog

1. I enjoyed selecting which pieces I added to the website, and ordering them to work well with each following piece. It's a lot like curating an online gallery in that way, even the labeling looks professional to me. 2. I used Wix to create my website, and it was a lot simpler than InDesign. The downside of it was that it had limited options when it came to selecting text, and using different fonts and sizes. It also had set stationary image blocks that wouldn't move, but had many templates to substitute this issue. InDesign has many more options but Wix was easy and simple to use. 3. The biggest challenge I faced was editing the texts to fit the page the way I wanted them to. Because the website has templates, it only allows you to put text in certain areas, and doesn't have great options for changing the size of the text either.
